Busch Gardens Tampa Project 2016 : Construction Update #7

Work Beyond What The Eye Can See...

We're back with Construction Update #7 in our "BGT Project 2016" construction update series. Since our last update back in late May, work at the construction site of Busch Gardens Tampa's 2016 attraction, Cobra's Curse, has visibly slowed down with little visible changes to the active construction site. Currently, work is mainly being focused on the indoor queue being housed in the former Tut's Tomb walkthrough attraction. For the latest look at the construction site, be sure to check out our latest construction update in the area below.

In the first "official" construction update posted by the park itself, SeaWorld Parks & Entertainment's Jeff Hornick takes us around the construction site providing never before seen views from within the construction site.

Fast forwarding to the present day, it appears as though underground electrical work is being done in the center of the construction site based on the labeled caution tape surrounding the excavated area. Further down the line, this could be used as a power source for one of the three lift hills on Cobra's Curse.

It also appears as though the pavement and fencing leading into the unused portion of the Montu queue have been removed based on the pile of metal fencing lying in the construction site.

The Zagora Market Opens At Busch Gardens Tampa!

Busch Gardens' Newest Snack Stand Now Open!

Earlier this year, Busch Gardens Tampa officially announced that the Zagora Market would be coming to the park sometime during Summer 2015. As of July 25th, the Zagora Market has been labeled "Open" by the park. We decided to stop by the park to check out the new quick service concession and try out the brand new Coca Cola Freestyle Machines! For a complete look inside the new Zagora Market, be sure to check out our blog post in the area below.

The Zagora Market now stands on the plot of land once occupied by the former Zagora snack stand as well as The Sultan's Tent, a small stage venue mainly used for photo op's during special events like Howl-O-Scream and Christmas Town.

The menu of the Zagora Market features many theme park staples including Fresh Popcorn, Churros, Pretzels, Caramel Corn, Cotton Candy, and Assorted Chips. The true stars of the Zagora Market are the three Coca Cola Freestyle Machines! For those who may not know, Coke Freestyle Machines are interactive drink machines featuring over 100+ drink flavors including low calorie and caffeine free options.

For the best deal when using Coke Freestyle Machines, be sure to pick up a souvenir cup and take advantage of the 99 cent refills after the initial purchase price of $11.99. At the time of our visit, the park didn't offer a park exclusive drink flavor on the Coke Freestyle Machines unlike some of the other SeaWorld parks.

The Zagora Market is now open at Busch Gardens Tampa. We hope you've enjoyed taking a look inside with us!

Special Edition : Cobra's Curse Media Event Recap!

Busch Gardens Confirms 2016 Attraction As "Cobra's Curse"

Big news out of Busch Gardens Tampa this morning! The unnamed 2016 attraction we've been covering for the past three months has finally been confirmed by park officials as "Cobra's Curse"! After much speculation within the theme park community, Busch Gardens Tampa finally confirmed the 2016 attraction at a media conference held at the park on May 28th. For a complete report from the media event with video, be sure to check out our coordinating article filled with tons of information regarding Cobra's Curse!

~Cobra's Curse Media Event Recap~

On May 28, 2015, members of the media were invited to Busch Gardens Tampa for a special announcement regarding their 2016 attraction. Within the days leading up to the announcement, several clues regarding the 2016 attraction surfaced. The clues hinted at a serpentine like theme and name for the ride. A publicly filed trademark request for the name "Cobra's Curse" surfaced, as well as the following concept art hinting a serpentine theme for the ride.

On the day of the event, we were greeted at the gates of Busch Gardens Tampa with a vile of dirt from the excavation dig site of the 2016 attraction. Once we moved inside the park, several members of Busch Gardens' Zoo Education team were stationed around the walkways holding various snakes.

After our walk to the attraction site, we were greeted by our excavation guide as well as Kelly Hornick, Marketing Manager & Consumer Activation Lead for Busch Gardens Tampa!

Once we entered the former Tut's Tomb attraction, several pieces of unique concept art were on display.

After taking a look at the concept art, we made our way to the presentation area where we waited for the start of the announcement. For a complete video of the 2016 attraction announcement, be sure to check out our video below!

After the official announcement from Jim Dean and Mike Denninger, members of the media were invited to explore the parameters of the construction site as well as interview park executives.

Busch Gardens Tampa Project 2016 : Construction Update #6

New Railroad Tracks & More Ride Footings!

We're back with installment number six in our "BGT Project 2016" construction update series. Since our last visit to the park, work steadily continues at the construction site of Busch Gardens' 2016 attraction, with visible progress on the installation of the new Serengeti Railway tracks, and the appearance of more ride footings near the center of the construction site. For the latest details and 10 new pictures, be sure to check out our latest construction update in the area below.

The installation process has finally begun on the brand new railroad tracks spanning between the Cheetah Hunt Plaza and the decommissioned Egypt train station. The layout of the railroad tracks has been slightly altered, now veering slightly towards the left from its former course. In addition, the railroad crossing pathways under construction in the previous weeks have since been paved over, now revealing a brand new product.

More ride footings have appeared near the center of the work site, with workers preparing the surrounding area for the bridge that the Serengeti Express will pass over. Another concrete slab has been poured in the center of the work site, which will likely be the future site of a pedestrian railroad crossing.

In other news, Busch Gardens Tampa has recently filed a permit to copyright the name "Cobra's Curse". While this is likely the rumored name for the 2016 attraction, details have not been finalized and the park has not confirmed anything at this time. Remember, this name is tentative and subject to change at any given time.

The park has however invited members of the media to attend a special presentation on May 28th, 2015, to reveal more details regarding the 2016 attraction. For complete event coverage from May 28th's media event, be sure to give us a follow on Twitter @TheBGTBuzz!

Busch Gardens Tampa Project 2016 : Construction Update #5

Mack Rides To Build Busch Gardens Tampa's 2016 Attraction?

We're back with installment number five in our "BGT Project 2016" construction update series. Since our last visit to the construction site this past weekend, more ride footers have appeared on the eastern side of the work site, and plumbing work has begun near the Edge Of Africa Construction wall. While the park hasn't confirmed what type of attraction will be coming to the park, The BGT Buzz strongly believes that Mack Rides will be building the attraction. Our claim is strongly supported by one of our photos taken at the construction site this past weekend. For the latest details and over 15 pictures from the construction site, be sure to check out our latest construction update in the area below.

Over at the construction site, crews have been hard at work preparing for the installation of a new pipeline & sewage irrigation system, as mentioned in the publicly filed blueprints with the SWFWMD. Throughout our visit to the project site, we were able to see crews excavating pipes from the existing irrigation system.

Visible from the Crown Colony Café balcony, more ride footings have appeared on the eastern side of the construction site. Workers were spotted installing these new ride footings in addition to the existing ride footings on the western side of the construction site near the Montu rollercoaster. Be sure to check out our (previous update) to see those pictures.

Over by the Cheetah Hunt walkway leading into the Edge Of Africa, construction walls have nearly enveloped the walkway, providing guests with little room to maneuver around the obstruction. Behind the walls, the railway crossing that also serves as a guest walkway has been completely excavated. Crews are also working on irrigation systems in this area of the construction site as well.

To address our previous claim: We strongly believe that German based ride manufacturer, Mack Rides, will be building Busch Gardens Tampa's 2016 attraction. Pending further review on an image taken by The BGT Buzz on 5/2/2015 at the construction site of BGT Project 2016, we came across a wooden box with a white shipping label attached to the side with the words "MACK" printed in black lettering. Therefore, this leads us to our claim. Remember, the park hasn't made an official announcement at this time, making this only a speculation until it is confirmed by the park.

To give our readers a better view, we've included our original photo, pictured first, followed by the zoomed in image, followed by the logo of Mack Rides.
