Bring In The Construction Equipment!
We're back with installment number three of our "BGT Project 2016" Construction Update series. From our last visit to the construction site, work continues as land is leveled and steel pilings are being driven into the ground. For an updated look at the work site with over 10 pictures, be sure to check out our article in the area below.
Since our last visit to the park, most of the piles of dirt and dug-up cement have since been removed from the project site, now displaying a level plot of land. Starting mid last week, steel pilings have started being driven into the ground to make way for the trenches that are scheduled to be constructed, as shown in the public blueprints uploaded to the Southwest Florida Water Management District's site.
In addition, a new public permit was filed with the City Of Tampa on April 15th mentioning "Construct new amusement building including electric, plumbing, and Mechanical". This strongly suggests that work could potentially expand further onto the Serengeti in order to construct this new attraction building. Unfortunately, there is no timeline as to when this phase of the project construction may begin.
Back at the construction site, comical additions advising guests what not to do have been added to the construction walls surrounding the project area. Also, the construction walls on the Crown Colony Café balcony have also been extended.
A formal construction site entrance has been made on McKinley Drive, just outside Busch Gardens' main parking lot exit. This service entrance will most likely be used to transport machinery as well as supplies for the project.
